Where can I find the VIN?

Flood damaged cars - what to be aware of

Many flood damaged cars will be advertised as just that.

But some may be listed for sale without dodgy sellers disclosing the flood damage - trying to pass it off as a normal, seemingly incident-free, second hand vehicle.

Buyer beware!

You should be aware of the consequences of buying a water-damaged vehicle and learn how to spot one.

Many problems associated with flood damaged cars won’t become evident until some time in the future.

What to look for:
  • Under the seat mountings for signs of water
  • Debris in suspension components
  • Open the fuse box and check for debris or rust
  • The glovebox for a tide mark
  • Lift seat covers and inspect original fabric
  • Inspect the carpet and check for musty/damp smell

Buying a detailed CarHistory Report will tell you whether the vehicle you intend to purchase was ever classified as a repairable write-off.
